Celebrity WFH set-ups you’ll want to copy

Words by Delicia Smith

When Meghan Markle shared a video to mark her 40th birthday and promo her new 40×40 initiative, she gave us a peek inside her elegant California home office.

Her WFH situation combines some next-level home styling, including a heavy oak table with a pile of her first Children’s book, The Bench, front and centre. And not only did the Duchess of Sussex manage to match her outfit with her office colour scheme, she also matched her dog, Guy, to the theme, too.

With most of us working or studying at home right now, we’ve got the itch to level up our WFH zones.

We know it’s way too easy to flop down on the sofa in your trackies and decide it’s your new office, but curating the space you work from is essential to your productivity and state of mind.

Here’s 9 celebrity home offices, desk areas and WFH nooks to inspire your own upgrade.

Meghan’s set-up screams luxe without a hint of bling. Everything is perfectly planned and expertly placed. We’re talking a Hermès blanket elegantly folded on a chair. A huge, healing quartz crystal. A vase filled with white roses, fiddle leaf fig in the background. Framed photos of her kids – Archie and Lilibet. Her laptop balanced on a stack of books. Every single thing in Meghan’s workspace is tied together tonally, including her matching outfit and even the dog.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Goop founder and movie star Gwyneth Paltrow gave fans a glimpse of her home office during lockdown last year. The lifestyle guru was live on Goop’s YouTube channel while sitting at her desk in the spacious office area of her Los Angeles home. Bookshelves play a huge part in the décor of the room, with rows of photobooks and novels on display. There’s also a grey sofa with a cream throw, a Nordic-style armchair, a coffee table and a black-framed fireplace.

Reese Witherspoon

Actor and producer Reese Witherspoon’s desk set-up is pretty minimal. There’s a pink orchid in a gold pot on the corner of her white desk. Shelves in the background stacked with books and family photos. But the hero piece is the blue and white patterned chair. Proving office furniture doesn’t have to be boring.

Victoria Beckham

Spice Girl turned WAG turned fashion designer, VB’s WFH space was always going to have an edge. We’re talking moody lighting, large artworks, book stacks, a sumptuous rug and mustard velvet armchairs. Her desk oozes understated luxury with its dark wood and black marble top. On it, a vase of flowers and desk lamps.

Jessica Mauboy

Family photos and stacks of books feature in Jessica Mauboy’s home-working set-up. The singer, songwriter and actor’s WFH situation has added greenery and ornaments on a shelf in the background, as well as a striking ceramic bowl and candle on her shiny black desk.

Kourtney Kardashian

Kourtney Kardashian’s workspace is modern and uncluttered. Her interior designer pal Martyn Bullard constructed the stylish home office, with its vintage rattan chairs, high ceilings, hardwood flooring and an impressive 1970s glass and mahogany desk. There are also film-inspired photos and prints lining one wall, and plenty of natural light flooding in.

Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung’s workstation is giving us serious style envy. It may be small, but her vintage desk is perfectly positioned with a view out of the window of her London home. The writer and designer has fashioned an old-school style work zone with no laptop in sight, just a pile of note pads and sketchbooks instead. A posy of flowers sits in a vase, and a dusky pink perfume bottle continues the theme. There are books lined up, including her own, glasses and a desk lamp.

Zoë Sugg AKA Zoella

Zoë Sugg has spent a lot of time in her home office over the past year. Haven’t we all… The YouTuber, blogger and author has decked out her attic space with a mix of mid-century and modern office furniture, a record player, an extra computer screen, a geometric print rug and plenty of plants. She also makes a strong case for fairy lights in the office.

Fearne Cotton

Brit broadcaster and writer Fearne Cotton clearly loves colour and regularly works from her pink office, filming weekly Instagram Lives from the space. The pink wallpaper features printed green palms for an element of kitsch. Bright yellow velvet chairs, a geometric rug and teal blinds pull the room together.
